GUIDE: WHERE TO PLAY INDOOR BASKETBALL IN STOCKHOLM

It's not always easy to find a place to play our favorite game in the cold, dark and long Swedish winter. In this blog post we'll share our experiences and tips on where to play indoors in Stockholm and its surroundings.

SSBL BASKETBALL OPEN GYM

WHEN

Sundays between August 24th 2014 to May 31st 2015 (closed on Holidays)

18:00 – 19:00 for children from 7 to 14 years old

19:00 – 20:30 for girls/boys, women/men (mixed practices)

HOW MUCH

One-time fee (tryout): 100kr

10 time pass: 1000kr (= 100kr/practice)

WHO GOT GAME

Level is from beginners to intermediate.

Open to all from 7 years old.

Good spot if you’re new to the game and want to play for fun while improving your skills!

KORPEN STOCKHOLM

WHEN

Sundays between September 7th 2014 to December 14th 2014 (closed on week 44)

16:30 – 17:30

HOW MUCH

One-time fee (tryout): 100kr

1000kr for the full period (14 practices = approx. 71kr/practice)

700kr for youngsters, born 1994 and later (14 practices = 50kr/practice)

Discounts possible if you sign up to other Korpen activities (i.e. Football, Volleyball,…)

Level is from rookies to intermediate.

WHEN

Wednesdays & Thursdays 19:00 – 20:30 between September 17th 2014 to January 22nd 2015 (closed on holidays)

Sundays 18:00 – 19:30 between September 21st 2014 and January 25th 2015 (closed on holidays)

HOW MUCH

Wednesdays:

-        900kr for Students and the university of Sthlm (16 sessions = approx. 56kr/session)

-        1300 for others (= approx. 81kr per session)

Thursdays:

-        900kr for Students and the university of Sthlm (17 sessions = approx. 53kr/session)

-        1300 for others (= approx. 76kr per session)

Sundays:

-        700kr for Students and the university of Sthlm (16 sessions = approx. 43kr/session)

-        1100 for others (= approx. 68kr per session)

WHO GOT GAME

SSIF is a student organization but sessions are open to non-students too. Teams are mixed (boys/girls), but since this is a student organization, players are usually 18-20 years old and older.

Level is from rookies to intermediate on Thursdays. Little exercises will be in place in order to improve your skills and overall understanding of the game.

On Wednesdays and Sundays, the level is more from Intermediate to Advanced. On these days, players are more experienced and should know the rules. There is no practice, only pick-up games. Teams are made at the beginning of the session and play each other throughout the 1h30.

Wide range of levels depending on which league the teams play in.

In the Stockholm region, there are 6 different divisions for men and 3 for women (for seniors).

MEN

-       Men division 2 (separated in Svealand North and South) – Level: Advanced to Expert

-       Men division 3 - Level Advanced to Expert

-       Men division 4 - Advanced

-       Men division 5 - Advanced

-       Men division 6 - Intermediate to Advanced

-       Men division 7 - Intermediate to Advanced

WOMEN

-       Women division 2 (separated in Svealand, Svealand North and South) – Level Advanced to Expert

-       Women division 3 – Level Advanced

-       Women division 4 – Level Intermediate

Different clubs throughout the city and its neighbourhoods.
